How to give a security camera picture to the Police

CCTV Tutorial Video

How to get a security camera picture in a format you can give to the Police.

Note that these instructions assume your snapshot is from a recorded video, but the procedure is the same if you want to take a snapshot of a live video - in fact it's easier because you don't have to find the video and pause it (which would be impossible anyway :)

Right mouse click on the video screen.

Select Snapshot from the menu.

The system will ask you where you want to save it and you can change the destination by clicking on the Path button.

Your still photo will open automatically in whatever program you have loaded on your computer ( In my case it opens in Windows Photo Viewer.)

Save a copy of the photo. (By default it saves as a bitmap with a .BMP extension. Make sure you note where on your computer it saved it).

10.

Click on the 4th small icon at the top right hand corner of the camera window (when you hover your mouse over it you'll see it says Snapshot).

Your photo will be in the directory setup in PSS for snapshots. To find out where that is click on the Config button at the bottom center of the screen. Then you'll see Snapshot Picture Path and that's where it is! You can easily change that destination if you like.
